Sigrid von Abele

Sigrid von Abele is Co-Owner and Principal of C3. She holds a degree in Elementary Education from The American University in Washington, D.C., and has taught at the elementary and middle school levels in public and private schools, in both urban and rural school districts. While teaching, Sigrid was nominated for a Sallie-Mae First Class Teacher award. Additionally, she served as grade-chair and chair of a District of Columbia Local School Restructuring Team.

Sigrid's focus on technology integration in the classroom led to a position as a technology coordinator in a private school, and subsequently to a position with the 21st Century Teachers Network (21CT), a non-profit organization of technology-proficient teacher mentors. There, she was the primary site and content manager for the network, where she managed and maintained all 21CT online content by establishing and supervising a volunteer corps of teacher mentors who evaluated and posted educational resources.

As a content manager, Sigrid established and managed in-depth partnerships between 21CT and leading educational organizations. She provided online and in-person training in technology usage for the classroom and designed an online course for teachers and administrators that has been utilized by schools, school districts, and universities.

In June 2000, Sigrid established Cross-Curricular Connections. C3 provides Internet content and services to a variety of both nonprofit and for-profit educational organizations, including the MarcoPolo Foundation, the National Council on Economic Education, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. C3 currently has a staff and contractor pool of fifteen content developers and analysts.
